For years, similar organisations have existed in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, creating opportunities for people across the insurance sector to connect, learn and build professional networks. In Western Australia, that platform didn't exist.
“There were industry events and associations, but nothing like Women in Insurance,” Rosie says. “In other parts of Australia, they’ve built strong communities with mentoring, networking and professional development opportunities. Western Australia was missing that.”
A group of women from across the insurance sector decided to change that.
Today, the Women in Insurance (WA) committee includes representatives from insurance companies, brokers, loss adjusters, legal firms and insurance builders. Together, they have established a not-for-profit organisation focused on supporting professional growth, leadership and connection across the industry.
“Insurance is a relationship business,” explains Rosie. “Every aspect involves people working together – insurers, brokers, adjusters, builders, lawyers and suppliers. The stronger those relationships are, the stronger the industry becomes.”
That belief is one of the reasons Midcity became a Foundation Donor.
Women in Insurance (WA) isn’t focused solely on networking. The organisation aims to create opportunities for learning, mentoring and professional development while helping build the next generation of industry leaders.
As the organisation launches its new website and begins planning future events, Rosie hopes it will become a valuable part of the Western Australian insurance landscape.
“It’s still early days, but we’ve already had a lot of support from across the industry,” she says. “That’s encouraging because it shows people see value in creating stronger connections and opportunities for others coming through.”
For Midcity, supporting Women in Insurance (WA) reflects a simple belief: strong industries are built when people share knowledge, support one another and invest in the future of their profession.
